Set of Eight Karl-Erik Ekselius Teak and Leather Armchairs, 1950s
A striking set of eight Scandinavian Modern dining armchairs designed by Karl-Erik Ekselius for JOC, Vetlanda, Sweden, in the 1950s.
The teak frames feature beautifully sculpted armrests, gently angled backrests and slender legs joined by stretchers. The warm tones of the wood complement the richly patinated tan leather, while brass upholstery studs outline the seats and backs.
The leather has developed individual variations in colour, creasing and surface markings, giving each chair its own character within the cohesive set. The exposed teak frames and leather-covered backs make the chairs equally appealing from all angles.
